Are fanfictions still okay?
Trying to write a short one here; probably my second one written by far.
Hope you guys and gals enjoy!
It was near.
I suppose it's a ridiculous tale with no happy ending. How I wish for peace to last, for families grow and thrive and live.
But it was not so. At least, after it came.
I saw the thing travel across the lands, leaving only destruction at its wake.
I saw it kill people. My people, who have done nothing but live.
I saw it heed not the screams of the fallen; not a single tear shed for every drop of blood spilled.
It does not feel the pain I have felt, the bodies of the fallen I have carried.
Perhaps, it does not care at all, as it tore souls apart with ease.
At first it was small groups; a missing one here and there.
Now, I cannot fathom its brutish strength as it took whole castles apart.
It left no survivors.
It does not feel mercy.
And it was near.
One by one my men have fallen; they fought hard, but they were no match for its sheer power.
There were many of us, but our numbers thinned over time. No spells nor power could have saved us.
We were fighting an impossible battle, a raging tide; an unbeatable foe.
It was near. I could feel it breaking down the walls, killing my men without remorse.
The families left torn, the glorious kingdoms burned to the ground...
He won't forgive me for staying here, but it's too late now...
The ceiling started to crumble as the gate was torn open.
There it stands, covered with the blood of my people, lifeless eyes staring back. It was here.
A sad smile crept across my face as I started to speak:
"It ends now, summoner."
It does not answer.
I take hold of my spear once again; my final battle is here.
I'm sorry, Alfa Dilith.
I'm sorry.
