I finished reading the novel in a week and now I have some THOUGHTS:

1. In my culture (I'm Pacific Islander), gods are usually held with high regard. They're loving, all-knowing, do-no-evil beings. And yet the gods in TGCF are basically anything but that. I mean everyone (besides my husband Pei Ming) either cares about themselves first or is a ghost (that twist with Ming Yi is really good!!). I don't think MXTX means for the audience to love ghosts or hate gods. I end up sympathizing with Shi Qingxuan and his brother as well as Jian Lan's decision. They did their best under the circumstances for the one they love, even though the more they try, the bigger mess everything becomes. The best summary of the three realms is probably: when you ascend, you're a human, when you fall, you're a human.
2. Speaking of gods, Jun Wu is a really pitiful character. His backstory doesn't justify any of his actions against Xie Lian but his ending makes me cry nonetheless. He's just so sad and so lonely; a true manifestation of the way to hell paved with good intentions.
3. My baby Xie Lian deserves all the happiness this the world!! Apparently, MXTX always makes her main character suffer, but this is my first Chinese novel so imagine how shook I was. Xie Lian's fate after the first banishment broke my heart to pieces.
4. Hue Cheng raised my standard in husband!!!

Now I have read the novel, read the manhua, and watched the donghua. What should I do with my life now?
