So I bought this bow back in April. I shot it for a month and a half, then I accidentally did not load the rest correctly so when I went to full draw the arrow was pushed into the riser and when I released the draw it derailed the string from the side pressure of the arrow. It wasn’t a particularly violent derail more like the string just popped off. I took the bow back and put a new string on, asked the shop if I should be worried about the way it derailed, was assured no worries. So I get the bow back and it begins to derail, literally every two weeks, slowly getting more violent each time the last time it broke the cable management which went flying. I went through three strings in two months, was still assured, no worries from the shop.
Finally on the last string and due to the broken part, they took the bow and gave it a full look to make sure there were no issues. They said they couldn’t find anything and sent it to Mathews. Two months later they say Mathews couldn’t find anything so they replaced everything. The cams, limbs, tophats, etc. basically replaced everything but the riser. So I go back and get my bow, finally excited to shoot it and feel secure that it won’t blow up in my face. I get home and look at the bow. It still has the nicks in the cam where the strings derailed, it still has red dye in the bearings from the first set of strings I had on it.
So now I’m livid. The bow didn’t have the cams replaced. I no longer feel safe shooting it. But what do I do? I can sell it through the shop on consignment. It would get me a decent amount of my money back, now probably $3500 spent. But would I feel ok if it blew up on someone? The shop doesn’t seem to be concerned enough about it to solve the issue. Did they lie? Did Mathews?
