I’m a big film collector, and after finding out about companies like Vinegar Syndrome, Terracotta, Arrow, and others, I’m finding that an increasing portion of my movie library is comprised of things I haven’t seen yet.
I used to feel weird about that, but I recently heard about the concept of an anti-library, which makes a compelling case for surrounding yourself with more books you haven’t read than books you have: “The library should contain as much of what you do not know as your financial means, mortgage rates, and the currently tight real-estate market allows you to put there.”
I won’t even get into the particular value of this in the streaming age, when too many excellent works are at risk of oblivion. Wanted to pass this along for any collectors wanting some ammo when people challenge your efforts!
