Seeing the overwhelming success of and support for the wolf reintroduction project, I whole heartedly believe we should continue to bring back Colorado's wildlife that has been demonized and eradicated. In light of this, I am planning on writing a proposal to have a vote to reintroduce Grizzlies to Colorado.
The last confirmed Grizzly was in 1979, it's remains are in the Colorado museum of history. While their general range spanned most of Colorado, they were primarily concentrated in the Continental divide and western plains. For this introduction plan I propose to start in the Indian peaks range near the front range. I believe this will not only provide adequate habitat and access to food and water, but also provide easy access for ecotourism.
