Hi folks. I’m on a weight loss journey and now that I’ve lost over 10% of my body weight my doctor is recommending I start using some dumbbells to help me with not losing as much muscle mass as I continue to lose weight. I found some 5lb dumbbells at TJ maxx but they are far too light. I am thinking I might want to start with a 10lb dumbbell and work my way up from there.
I’m not really familiar with sporting goods/workout equipment stores or stores that carry these types of items because I’m not exactly a “fit” person and I’ve never owned a dumbbell before nor shopped for one.
Target is out of stock of 10lb dumbbells in all the brands at both Fenway and packards corner. They appear to have some in stock at the Watertown location, but that’s a little bit far to travel for me to carry some weights back. I’ll do it if I can’t find any weights that are closer. I’m also wondering if there are dumbbells that are cheaper than what Target has- the 10lb dumbbell I’m seeing is $15.99 and the 15lb dumbbell is $23.99. I know weights are expensive and I only need one of each so that’s not a huge expense, but if I can get them for less and closer to my house in Allston that would be fabulous.
Thank you in advance for any and all recommendations.
