Will I be bow to live in Boston with 70k?

I’m moving from Europe to Boston for a post doc with a salary of 70k before taxes. Will I be able to live in the center, 30 min by train or bike? I don’t mind having roomies (ideally 1 or 2). I’m afraid I won’t be able to have a room below 1/3 of the income? What are usually the requirements asked? I will be working at Charlestown navy yard.
