This summer, The Huntington Theatre will present the first American production of the highly acclaimed āThe Lehman Trilogy,ā the 2022 Tony Award winner for Best Play that has been performed in 24 countries. Spanning across the Lehman Brothers' 163-year history from a dry goods store to an infamous investment firm, the play calls for us to grapple with the difficult history of our nation, including our economic roots in slavery, the changing forces of antisemitism, and the disparities of wealth building in the U.S.
Join CitySpace and The Huntington for a free conversation featuring distinguished local scholars about the effects of modern capitalism, and the vast social and historical forces that surround this epic American story. WBUR arts and culture reporter Cristela Guerra moderates with panelistsĀ Dr. Kyera Singleton, Executive Director of the Royall House and Slave Quarters in Medford, MA and Dr. Stephen Whitfield,Ā emeritus professor of American Studies at Brandeis University.
