can't find a serial number from a refurbished bose?

got the boses 700 noise canceling discounted because it was refurbished last year. it got really gross & i need to do a trade-in. i tried finding the serial number & i pulled out the ear foam, im looking all over especially the right ear foam but theres no serial number. i looked at the manual too. does anyone have this problem too?
