Eridian proving grounds

So i have just got up to the point in the story where you pick up the scanner.
It said something along the lines of 'look out for something or other as it contains co ordinates for eridian proving grounds'.
But i have just gone to fast travel to the next part of the game, and there are 6 eridian proving grounds on my fast travel options. Is this a bug? Or are they supposed to be there?
Edit: i thought they had disappeared, but they are in fact still there on my travel menu from sanctuary. And i can fly the ship to all of them. Even though i have only found the coordinates for 1 of them...
