Question about Shift Codes

Hi guys,
Returning player after completing it at launch - dived back in with all the DLC as moze.
Regarding the shift codes, the ones that give a specific weapon - is it best to enter these codes once my character is max level? Or is there a way to still get them max level after using them now?
