Hey folks. I was one of the people who won a few cards from the u/ Proxy_King Black Weekend giveaway a monthish ago, and they requested that once I received the cards, I'd make a post confirming that it was real. I figured that I should do one better and give some commentary on what I got -- although since I don't have access to a scanner, unless you guys want some pictures that don't meaningfully showcase the cards, you'll just have to make do with my shrewd observational skills. I'm also not going to rank cards by some abstract like "passability", since in my opinion the biggest determinants there are how far away your opponent is and how good their eyesight is.
All that out of the way, here's what I got:
Applicable to all three cards: Black borders are slightly lighter than a real card (I'd say it's the difference between #000000 and #111111 hex colors). Cardstock is denser than a real card (light shines through about 75% as much). Card backs are slightly lighter in hue, and also rather grainy/oddly rasterized (particularly visible on the mana symbols). Text (name, typeline, etc.) appears to be printed on a second pass from the rest of the card, and looks very authentic.
Misty Rainforest [ZEN]: No visible issues, although the interior borders (nameplate, text box, etc.) are marginally more grainy than a real card.
Path to Exile [CON]: Very grainy/pixelated card body, particularly the set symbol. Coloration is somewhat lightened/washed out, giving the card almost pure white interior borders and losing details instead of the yellow-white borders a real card has.
Mox Opal [SOM]: somewhat greener interior borders (makes the "artifact" border seem more grey than blue-grey) but probably within acceptable variation. Interior borders are somewhat grainy/pixelated, but my comparison SOM artifacts display similar features so it's probably not an issue. Set/rarity symbol exhibits noticeable grain "haloing" around it, likely an effect of the (hypothesized) same image rescaling that creates the grain/pixelization present in the interior borders.
If there's anything I didn't address, please ask!
