Windows boot overwritten by grub after installing Ubuntu (tri-boot)
Post Body

Hey guys, I'm not new to bootcamp but I am certainly new to Linux as well as the concept of tri-booting it on my MacBook. I've got a macbook 14,2 and after installing Linux on a separate partition my windows boot was overwritten by grub and I don't know how to boot back into windows. All my data is still there, but I assume the actual bootloader has just been overwritten with grub because when I select EFI boot in the boot options on startup, it boots grub with a bunch of error messages on the screen, waits like 10 seconds, and then boots straight into Ubuntu. I'm not too familiar with boot stuff and I've looked a lot online and haven't been able to figure my problem out anywhere, so having this solved would be a big help.

Some things to note:

  • I've tried installing rEFInd and while it works, the same result occurs. Windows won't boot.
  • I've got a hunch that Linux is some unrecognized boot type on my computer given that when I go to system preferences to select a boot disk, it only recognizes windows and macOS, not Linux. Same with boot options at startup. Disk utility also gives me no information on my Linux partition, not even how much storage has been used or how big the partition is. My thinking is that maybe if my MacBook recognizes Linux, maybe that'll somehow magically fix the windows boot. Or not. I have not much idea about this stuff so that's all a hunch.
  • After I installed Ubuntu, the computer automatically boots into Linux. The only way to boot into macOS is by using rEFInd to select startup disk or boot options on startup. However, as I mentioned before, Linux is not recognized in those boot options.

If this is the wrong place to post this, I'd appreciate if someone redirected me to somewhere appropriate for this question.
