What's up with all the "read my cousin's/brother's/friend's book" posts?

There have been a number of posts with a suspiciously high number of upvotes recently. These posts all suggest reading the OP's relation's book.
Can we please restrict posts to people who are looking for book suggestions? This place is starting to feel like a marketing board. I feel like we need to nip this in the bud.
