Travel and adventure novels were quite a thing from the early 19th century up to, I would say, the mid-20th century. However, they seem to have fallen in disfavour. My guess is that, with cheaper transportation, travel and adventure became trivialised and lost their literary allure.
But I’d like to read something anchored in the present. The “present” can be very wide, so, for the sake of the question, I will bracket it from the 2000s (maybe 1990s….) to today. It is a plus if the author is someone under 40, but not strictly necessary.
TL;DR: I’d like to find a contemporary travel or adventure novel set after the 2000s (maybe 1990s).
