A little history on me first. I’m a 20 year old male, and for the last 3 years I’ve been trying to get my life together. Back then, the clearest path meant jumping into the self-development universe. Reading self-development books on any area of life that I felt needed improving, including relevant podcasts, videos, articles, etc. And it worked. I feel like I am a significantly better person than I was 3 years ago. It’s like I have a new toolset for dealing with the obstacles that pop up from now and then. But none of this is to say that I feel content, I’m still on the same mission. My goal in life is to always keep learning. At this point I’ve made up my mind on plenty of things, almost like I’ve written a personal rule book of what’s right or wrong for me. But it feels unchallenged, like I’m trapped in my own bubble of beliefs, and nothing seems to be trying to get me to grow out of it. Most of the books I’m reading now only seem to preach the same things.
So, picture someone who’s been heavily influenced by the Silicon Valley gurus of the world, and that is familiar with most of what you see in one of those airport bookstores, what books would you recommend to help them grow?
I know my plea is vague, but I’m not sure how to find what I’m searching for. Maybe I’m looking for something that sways against what the majority of people believe. Anyway, all suggestions are welcome.
