I had not read much though college but I read a ton in Highschool and before. A few years out and I am starting to read again.
I just read The House of Leaves and thought it was alright by the time I finished it but great in the beginning.
Then I read Forever War, which had me so entranced I couldn't put it down!
I looked into some of Joe Haldeman's writing but they all seem to be in the same themes as Forever War, either being a long distant war, or travels through time.
I'm not looking for a particular genre, but I do tend to shy away from big series. A friend recommended Ender's series, but at 7 books or so, I'm not quite ready for that. Looking for something that is good on it's own, or maybe as a two part.
