I've got a long drive coming up and need some specific audio book suggestions, since I have two free credits on Audible :)
I'm an agriculture student. I already ordered "Animal Liberation" by Peter Singer, on audio. I'm interested in ethics and on the rare chance that our professors teach us how non-agriculturalists think/believe it's usually with quite a bit of bias. I'm looking to balance that out some. If you identify as a vegan/vegetarian/animal rights proponent, what book do you and your peers consider to be a guiding text/narrative? I read Food Politics (Marion Nestle) and did find myself frustrated often by the anecdotal dialogue. It had the opposite effect that I think was intended.. I found it hard to see from Nestle's perspective because some of the rhetoric was laid on so thickly.
I'm also considering getting an audiobook (or two) to learn a new language. I am fluent in English and Spanish. I'm interested in learning Portuguese, Italian, and German. I can communicate fairly decently with people who speak Portuguese and Italian, of course, and am not sure if that means I should learn what's easier to grasp or start with something totally different to further diversify myself. What would you recommend if I were to buy an audio book to learn a new language? And do you have input about which language I should pick up?
