Best historically accurate books about WW2.

Hi! I'm looking for good books to read to a close one on call (long distance) and his main interest is WW2 so that's what I'm going off of.
I do not know much about WW2 - so researching this is a bit difficult.
Also they can absolutely be other genres. It would be best if it was non fiction but if you have favorite WW2 related fiction books, I will look into them too.
