So I have a serious and honest question even though it sounds dumb

You know how in a lit of supernatural tv shows (Supernatural, Grimm, The order, ect) and they have like all these books on lore, and magic' and history about people monsters groups ect. are they like...real books? I mean, there are so many books that sound so cool on these shows that I would LOVE to read and use for research. So that is my question, are they real books, do they use real books for find lore and magic and stuff?
