Cultural references in “There’s No Such Thing As An Easy Job” by Kikuko Tsumura
Post Body

Just finished reading this lovely book and noticed that there are so many references to Spain, Spanish and Spanish culture in the book. Do these references have a significance of some sort? Especially with regards to the temp jobs the main character did? Or the author just loves the culture of Spain?

For example, there’s a Flamenco place that offers dancing lessons and basque food. Some posters in the poster job part had “ayudarte” written on them. The job in the forest talked about some basque athlete playing in a Japanese team.
