Suggestions for "board book" style children's book

Post Body
My granddaughter is 1 year old and I'd like to make her some books, but I'm worried that just using paper will not withstand the vigor of a toddler. I've only ever made chapbooks and some journals.
Any suggestions on a "board book" style material and a method for construction? Commercial board books look to be glossy paper glued/adhered to a heavy cardboard?
