So a friend and I found a dead possum in her garage. It had just started to smell, but the maggots had already done a very good amount of work on it. At that moment, we just wanted to get rid of it and kill the maggots, so we put it in a bucket and poured bleach in it. All of the maggots died, but looking at it, there's only flesh left on the tail and the bleach (even though it's not concentrated) took care of everything else so fast. It's probably a lost cause, but is there anyway to keep the bones from becoming super brittle? Like soaking in peroxide for hours to deactivate the bleach? I felt like there wasnt any harm in asking, and you guys would be the ones to know.
