Why does this happen?

When I walk into a room everyone sees me then looks down or away quickly. When I walk through the room they are either a fair pace behind me or move out of my way. When I speak they listen. When I say to do something they say ‘yea ma’am’. I’m a 5 foot tall pretty woman. I’m often called intimidating. I don’t know why. This is a recurring thing in my life without any effort on my part. Can anyone help me understand why this happens?
