I’m running a 16 foot Fibreglass Inflatable / Rhib and have a 40hp yamaha 2 stroke on it - it has a gear ratio of 2:1. It has great holeshot but tops out around 22 knots, not sure of exact revs as no tacho on it but there’s a lot of the throttle range that seems to be at max revs. I was with another friends full fibreglass boat of same size that is probably heavier and also has a 40hp yamaha except he has the 3 cylinder version with different gear ratio versus my 2 cylinder enduro version and he had a bit more speed. Should I look at changing prop pitch? Would be nice to add a few more knots top speed just to bring the revs down when cruising at 20 knots or so. I couldn’t see the markings on the prop but I’ll try have a better look.
