SeaStar hydraulic steering leak
Post Body

My steering got a little bit stiff after close to 100 hours this season. I checked the oil behind my helm and it wasn’t past the filler line, so I added a bit of oil and that helped the steering.

Maybe put about 10/20 hours since then on the boat. It’s been sitting for close to two months bc work got busy. Finally took it out again yesterday and my steering became unsteerable about three docks down from my own.

Checked the oil and it wasn’t at the line so added some oil and it fixed the problem right up.

Must have a leak somewhere - anyone have any tricks or tips to identifying the leak? Didn’t notice any fluid behind my column
