Aluminum boat on a big lake?

First time boater. I’ve been looking at getting a 12 footer aluminum with a 9.9 hp engine for fishing. My main lake I want to go to is quite large, 373 square km(144 square miles) with a depth of 660 feet at the deepest. There is a large boat marina on the south end of the shore line with heavy boating traffic, the main boat launch is right there too. How safe would a small boat be on a lake this big. I don’t plan on going to far off the shore line just wanna find some quite patches away from the heavy wakes from all the boating traffic. Thanks!
