BOC out of the context of time periods.

Am I the only one here who get's more satisfaction from BOC's music when I disassociate it with the 60s/70s/80s?

It's cool that they sometimes reference things from those time periods for the sake of developing a theme of nostalgia and/or creepiness, but everybody always talking about them in the context of those time periods can get to be a bit much. It's totally understandable that people do, but I just like to appreciate their music for what it is, and not as some gimmicky vintageness. A lot of their music even reminds me of the future!

Not to bash anyone for associating BOC with anything in particular, I just feel like their music can function out of that context and not enough people give it a chance to.
