Pandemic Legacy ruined! (I'm spoiled)

We had around 30 hours of fun playing this completely immersive game. We didn't know all the rules and story before it happened, which contributed to the game play experience because we had to make decisions without fully understanding how those decisions would affect us down the line.

But all that fun was for NOTHING! It was completely ruined by the fact that we didn't score the maximum score because we ignored the storyline hints as to what was important. It's like we didn't have that 30 hours of fun AT ALL! It was a complete waste of time!
