I got a new game, and one character that's used in the variant of this game is clearly underpowered, especially compared to the character it replaces. My expertise in all things game is enough for me to know this just by looking at it.
So, without even trying the official rules, we tried our own variant. But it was just terrible.
That's because the variant character is clearly overpowered so we instituted some rules to counter this. This too was terrible!
So we changed them yet again, and found the perfect balance. We're going to write to the designer to tell him what the right rules should be. Someone said that they were the rules that came with the game but that can't possibly be the case, because I know from my expansive knowledge of games that the designer was wrong, because originally this character was under overpowered.
