I'll start. Not all games arrive perfect. I've got a few with banged up corners or small scratches. I had one box show up with a whole punched in the side which did hit a box, but fortunately I was going to throw that box out anyways. This one is a whole other level, though.
I excitedly awaited my Pax Pamir 2E from the Kickstarter a little while back. I could see it was tracking to me and when it showed up I went and grabbed it from the front door. It was in a cube shaped box which seemed kind of an odd box size choice, but whatever.
I opened it up and there it was, nestled at the bottom bound up in some air cushioned wrap. I took it out and carefully unwrapped it and... WTF? Well, you can see for yourself. The first thing I noticed was the shrink wrap, while still attached, was clearly falling off. Immediately following that, though, is the realization that the box is not just crushed, but torn open. Not just at one end, but both the top cover and bottom half are split. I noticed it was being held together with packing tape. You could literally remove the components (many of which were also damaged) without opening the box or removing the shrink wrap.
So, what I imagine happened, is that, in shipping, the package was mangled. I later noticed that the shipping label on the box I received had actually been cut off another box and taped to the one I had. The game must have spilled out and, instead of filing a claim, the workers just put some packing tape around it, wrapped some bubble wrap around it (why bother now... lol) threw it in a new box, and sent it on it's way.
Fortunately the team over at Wehrlegig were great and had a new copy sent out right away. The second copy arrived in much better shape.
I haven't had a chance to play it yet, as my wife doesn't like anything more involved than Azul and my kids are too young, but I'm looking forward to it.
