This week I’ve been teaching at a camp that is themed by the instructor. There are dancing, and legos, etc, and I pitched a tabletop gaming camp last year, and this year they let me have it.
The best part? I started the week with standard games that I thought would be a set up for the rest of the week. The kids were board with Life and Jenga etc. Day two when I brought out Kulami, Six, Onitoma, etc (it was our opponent based games day) they were WAY more engaged.
Yesterday (tile placement and card games) they went right past fluxx and were debating whether they liked Carcassonne or Dominion better.
Today I’m introducing Co-ops and Language games; tomorrow is High Strat games and repeats of favorites from the rest of the week.
The campers are 6th-9th grade. It’s great to see a new generation of gamers coming up!
