CMON is running a Blood Rage Digital Kickstarter for the digital version of Blood Rage.
This was previously discussed here and a post about the value of the Kickstarter was discussed here.
The Kickstarter is for a digital copy of the game, but there is a pledge level that includes physical rewards. This post is about those rewards. The rewards have changed quite a bit since either of those two posts about 5 days ago. This is a quick campaign and it ends tomorrow evening so I thought a quick overview for Blood Rage fans who may have dismissed the campaign (like myself) might be useful.
The Good
Blood Rage's original Kickstarter came with 4 exclusive monsters (Ice Giant, Fenris, Wolfman, Mystic Troll). While those are gone for good, the campaign made alternate sculpts (exact same rules, just different minis) in the Ice Giantess, Garm, Wolfwoman, and Troll Seer. This is a great way to get those pieces for gameplay without having to pay the ~$50/piece that they go for on ebay.
In addition the campaign has added 2 more monsters, Ymir and Jormungandrsson. A third, Hildsvini may be unlocked as a stretch goal.
They have also added a sculpted Doom token and saga token. There are also a wide range of new optional buys available.
The Bad
They've added oversized golden gods of Asgard to every physical pledge. If you already have the God of Asgard expansion, these are bigger minis than the originals and they include Hel, an alternate sculpt replacement for the Kickstarter exclusive Hili (useful if you got them at retail). They are also painted metallic gold. That might be great if you don't paint your minis and want something that stands out but not great if you do (too many coats of paint really ruin the detail). They are offering an unpainted set as an optional buy, but that's kind of lame. This would move to "good" if they would let people choose if they want them painted or unpainted, but that's probably not going to happen. If you want oversized paintable gods then you might end up with 3 sets of this expansion if you already have the original.
The Ugly
The physical pledge is $60 USD. You still have to buy the stag clan/5th player expansion whether you want to or not, which inflates the price for many of us. It does include all the sculpted tokens. Also, you can now buy the sculpted clan tokens for the 4 core clans and the 5th player expansion Ram clan if you missed those as an optional buy. The stag clan also comes with a thick cardboard dashboard rather than the original cardstock dashboards. People can upgrade all their clans to cardboard dashboards as an additional optional buy as well.
Overall, I think this KS might be worth it if you're a big Blood Rage fan. Before I was definitely on the "not worth it" side of things but I'm starting to reconsider. You definitely don't need any of this. Even the original KS exclusive minis are a very small part of the game. The retail core box is a great game all by itself and doesn't feel incomplete at all. If you like to really bling it all out, this could be a good option, though.
For those of us that backed the original or have most of the existing stuff, I think there are still some things to consider here. I'm not trying to convince anyone - I don't care if you back it or not - but for those like me that had originally passed it over, I thought you might want to take a second look now that we have a better idea of what all is included. Blood Rage is one of those games that many people complain about missing out on, so I thought an update might be helpful for some.
TL;DR There's more stuff that you may or may not find interesting in this KS
