One of the best things I learned to say while explaining rules was "please wait to ask questions until all the rules are explained." 9 times out of 10, I answer those questions when explaining.
I learned this because I am a youth pastor who likes to teach the students new games. I explain rules a lot, but usually because varying people show up each week and sometimes I have to explain them again... actually, off topic, but the most fun is having a teenage jock guy who plays football and stuff explain the rules of Masquerade or The Resistance to a 7th grader. It's quite awesome.
