Hey guys, My son is 8, has recently gotten into BMx and while I'm still his best friend and considered the coolest person he knows (for now) I want to use this hobby and build on our relationship with it. I rode back in my day, but that was 15 years ago. So I'm no stranger to doing my own maintenance and parts. Here's my situation;
Bought 2023 kink curb off some guy on marketplace and overall condition is superb. He barely rode it, kept it inside, and I only paid 120$ for it. It's more or less exactly as this find one in a shop for sale, mission wheels, 3 PC crank but lots of steel parts and lower end "pro" spectrum stuff. That's all fine and good because I'm not planning to relearn anything crazy or take myself and the bike into the air more than a few feet lol
My problem is the geometry, or the ride/feel of this thing s u c k s. The bars aren't pushed way out by any means, but overall design has me terrified I'm going to end up going over them head first if I put tooo much effort into a bunny hop. There's just a very front heavy feel too it, not so much like physical weight heavemy, as much as unbalanced, natural positioning heavy ... Hope that makes sense.
If you can relate or if you have any solutions I'd love to hear about them. maybe I'm just too old now, Or is this just s common thing for a kink bike? Would a different head or set of bars do anything to help that?
Bonus question - these wheels suck. Are there any 2x walled wheels that I can pick up and do s swap out on, ideally for Under $100 front and $150 in the back?
Much appreciated
