Do I *really* need a chromoly frame?

Post Body

I posted awhile ago looking for bike suggestions / info on getting back into riding. I’m a chunky dude at 6’ 300lbs, so I know I need a frame that’s gonna withstand my fatness.

But my ultimate goal is to just putz around the neighborhood with my kiddo, and ride up and down the hills at the local skate park while he’s on his balance bike. Just so he can see dad doing the ramps too.

No jumps, no bunny hops, no drop ins on the quarter pipes, just putzing.

So - do I still really need a chromoly frame? Like is a standard steel or aluminum frame going to buckle under my fatass while cruising down the sidewalk with my kid?

Thanks for the info and knowledge, everyone!
