OG BMPCC Film vs. Video Mode

I keep hearing just how bad the video mode is on the OG, and that one must always shoot in film mode. I want to know, is it really that bad, or is film mode on the OG so good, that the video mode pales in comparison? Or, put another way, how does the video mode on the OG compare to the image coming out of a camera that is considered to have a good image straight out of the camera?
