Just wanted to shout out this song. I feel like it’s probably one of the least known out of all the hellfire songs that they've been playing just because they don't play it as often. Initially I was worried it wasn't going to be on the album since it wasn't among the songs registered on ASCAP, but I'm glad I was wrong.
This song is insane. The sinister but still smooth and jazzy grooves that drive it are awesome. It is probably the jazziest song they've done. The breakdown at the end is fucking brutal too. If that wasn’t enough the lyrics of this song are some of the best out of all the hellfire material. It tells the story of a farmhand who decides to murder a man for money only to learn that Satan is his employer. The end of the song literally has the farmhand being sent to hell by Satan for his crimes and it fucking rules.
The ally pally recording here is probably the best one that I’m familiar with, but there’s some other cool ones as well.
Looking forward to the studio version of this (especially for the Geordie vocals) and of course the record at large. TBE.
