UPDATE: I've decided that regardless of what happens, I'm going to volunteer at the Bloomington Bike Project as much as I can until I move away in August. The earn-a-bike program is an awesome idea, and I'd love to own a bike that I built while giving back to the community in the wake of my small but personal tragedy.
This is a super long shot, since I took very few precautions against theft, wrongfully assuming that my bike was safe on the rack outside my apartment.
It's a dark red Diamondback Wildwood mountain bike, with a rack over the back wheel, a bottle holder, a clip for the old bike lock (1/4" of braided steel cut clean through btw) and a cheap headlight.
I don't have any pictures, and I didn't record the serial number or register it with any services. It's my first time having a bike here in town and it's only been here a couple weeks. Definitely going to take more precautions in the future. LOTS more.
I grew up with and learned to ride a bike on this bike. I don't think I'm ever getting it back, so this is more of a vent / eulogy than anything, but if anybody happens to see it, let me know.
