I’m looking for suggestions on some new places/spaces I can make some friends and make some connections in Bloomington. I’ve lived here almost 4 years and yet I’ve got almost no social circle in Bloomington itself.
I have plenty of hobbies and friends, but my hobbies are mainly done alone (crafting), online (my ongoing D&D game), or in specialized groups (medieval reenactment), and most of my friends don’t live near Bloomington and I only see for special events.
I never really get to go out and do stuff because I don’t have much fun going out just by myself, and no friends in town to go with me (my couple of friends in town tend to be pretty reclusive). Plus being a college town most of the recommendations I’ve got are to go out to bars or join a sports league of some kind, neither of which I have interest in.
I’m also ready to try dating again after a particularly devastating heartbreak last year, but I legit have no idea how or where in town to meet potential partners organically. Mainly due to anxiety, every person I’ve dated previously I met on an app, but dating apps are pretty much a wash now. And again, I don’t really have any friends that can help along with that sort of thing so I’m pretty much on my own for that too. Are there any sort of singles meetups or spaces in town that would be a good place to start?
