Rule clarification. Passing completions and deflections

We ran into a situation today in BB 2020 rules where we were not sure whether a passing player got a completion or not. The pass was accurate, however was deflected, deflection failed to catch however the scatter landed on the original recipient and he successfully caught it.
Now, the SPP entry for a completion states when an accurate pass is caught by the player in the target square. Now. There were a couple of extra steps but the accurate pass was indeed caught by the target player.
