My brother and I are having trouble doing Co-op in Chalice Dungeons. Can anyone help?

So my brother is becoming a baby Hoonter and wants me to play with him. My characters are much higher level than his (130 and 210) and we've managed to link up to play through Cathedral Ward and Hemwick.

Our snag is whenever I try to join his Pthumeru Chalice with a password, it just searches endlessly. When I tried looking up his Chalice Glyph and joining from being in the same area of the same Chalice, it kept saying there was no Chalice with that glyph.

Will this be a problem for all of the Chalice? Does anyone have any ideas?
