Post Body

In the past few weeks we've been getting a larger and larger volume of 'angry' people, comments and replies. Several of the Quality Contributor users have now reported getting combative messages via DM.

This has led to one of the longest QC's, u/macnewton leaving the site.

Mac was helping with the flairing, had started an FAQ list on the wiki and was programming the automoderation rules on our test sub. The loss of Mac from this sub is a loss for us all and I hope he will come back (I've no way of reaching him as we talked previously only through modmail and chat).

As a result of this, and to try and prevent other QC's from being abused for trying to help I will be temporarily implementing a zero tolerance policy on any post considered unhelpful to the OPs question.

A new reporting action for all users will be available shortly - 'unhelpful'. Please use this to alert us to comments which are tending towards the pathway of aggression, even if they haven't yet met the threshold of abuse.

Posts or comment threads containing aggressive posts will now be removed and the responsible persons blocked from creating new topics or replies here.

As everyone will have seen I've been very light touch with the moderation here, but with increasing reports and now this 'outbreak' I cannot have people being affected in this way - no-one from Blink is here and no-one from Blink that we are aware of reads these posts.

Gripes are fine (and there's a Flair for them!), but aggressive comments hijacking threads and generally being unhelpful to OP's queries are not any longer whilst this temporary new rule is in place.

This post is open for discussion, and happy to receive any suggestions. If anyone would like to volunteer to take the Wiki (FAQs) task on or the automoderator rules task I would be very grateful to hear from you!

I am though, sad that Mac has been pushed out of this community by this :/
