noob question

I initially had the normal blender version. Then when I saw octane version of it. I installed Blender Octane edition. Now in my program files, I have 2 different directories, one for the old one and the other for blender octane. Both weigh around the same disk size.
Since I primarily use only the octane edition, is it safe for me to remove the 'Blender Foundation' and just keep the octane edition or do I have to keep them both?
