Tips for splitting up a hollow model for 3d Printing?
Post Body

I have this unenclosed structure that I'd like to print; it's too big to print in one go. I have tried extruding the outer edge and tried both scaling and shrinking it, and I've tried using the Solidify modifier - which gets really close, but all the outer edges are perpendicular to the last face before the edge, whereas I need the outer edges to be flat/flush when laid on a surface. I was able to mitigate the issue by extruding the edge out perpendicular to the direction I need the outer edges, but that required modifying the model and I'd like to keep my model's integrity if possible. I guess I could apply the Solidify modifier and move the vertices back in, removing verts as necessary, but is there a simpler way?
