Hey everyone, sorry if this is an innapropriate sub for this, but ive been fiddling around with some synty assets on unity and ran into some trouble while trying to import them into blender that i havent been able to solve with my google fu.
The issue im having is that I have a modular character prefab that has a rig already attached to it, but whenever I attempt to export this asset from unity to blender using the fbx exporter plugin in unity the relationship between the skinned meshes and the armature appears to break. The rig is like at an angle for some reason to the mesh and isnt manipulating it anymore as expected. Ive taken a few pictures to show what Ive been encountering.
The only thing I have done once importing the fbx into blender, was clearing transforms, rotations, and scaling the armature and mesh down to a reasonable size. I would like to note that the the mesh is sort of attached to the rig? like when i rotate the armature it does rotate the mesh peices with it, but when i go into pose mode moving the bones around does not affect the mesh at all. Furthermore when i then export the fbx back into unity instead of the all the peices being skinned mesh renderers as they were on import all gameobjects have been turned into regular mesh renderers apparently having lost all of their weight painting/connection to the rig.
If anyone has any pointers for me, id really appreciate it. thanks!
