So as the title suggests, I love Blade Runner 2049, and I honestly think about that story and world all the time. But I've never really been a fan of the original Blade Runner, and I want to change that if possible. I've only watched the Final Cut, but I've tried it a few times and each watch left me wanting something more. I don't know how to really describe my thoughts on the original film, but I just end up liking its ideas more than the experience of the film itself (to be fair, though, I haven't watched it again in a good while).
However, I've actually been recommended trying the Theatrical Cut, which I'm curious about. I was telling a friend of mine about this predicament and their line of thought was that the original theatrical version of Blade Runner was the cut of the film that OG fans saw, and it was the version that essentially first found a cult audience. And I know all about the voiceover and stuff like that, but is it worth trying out a version of the movie that people seem to call inferior? I love the idea of Blade Runner feeling more noir-ish in a sense, if it comes off like that...
I just don't have the experience to decide for myself 🤣
