I'm calling this now. I'm predicting we're going to see some third type of Supply Drop during the life of Black Ops 3. Personally, I feel almost certain.
I predict they'll be around 100 Cryptokeys, or around 500 CP. They'll have a guaranteed Legendary, perhaps guaranteed no Commons, or perhaps "increased weight" to doll out weapons.
Why would they do this?
Well, first of all, I find it very unlikely that the current model will persist throughout Black Ops 3 in its current form. Either they'll start selling weapons separately, or do something like this. The odds behind actually getting the weapon you want is dismally low even for serious players, and even those who've dropped 100 bucks on these things.
I find it very hard to believe we'll be moving into CoD 2016 with people talking about these exotic guns in BO3 (And we're almost certain they'll be more) from the perspective of someone who never actually got them. As of now, the average joe casual CoD player has virtually no hope of attaining even one of these weapons without getting extremely lucky. I don't think they would plan on developing weapons for 1% of players to ultimately experience.
No, the most profitable thing to do would be to squeeze all the money out of players who want things fast and are willing to fork over cash, and then offer more lucrative and efficient means to get them later, after people are done shelling out cash for rares.
Furthermore, 100 Cryptokeys may not sound like a lot to a Prestige Master, it certainly does to a casual. People will be happy be able to spend another 50 dollars on 5-10 of these things, and walk away with a positive feeling after they get a weapon or two.
This progressing microtransaction model I feel is a double edged sword. On one hand, we'll finally be given a more reasonable(for some) method of getting what we want, but on the other, they stand make an annoying business model even more annoying by constantly trying to bait and barter with progressively "better" deals.
Again, I refuse to believe that such a small number of players will ever attain the weapons they're going to put out, and they stand to make a lot of money, and even popularity, by offering better supply drops. They'll even be orange, the flagship color of the franchise now. And that Black Market screen clearly has room for one more.
TLDR: I'm guessing we'll get a third supply drop option because money and stuff.
