So I'm finally considering purchasing my first ever Blackmagic Camera. After being completely put off for the past 11 years by the original Cinema Camera and then the original Pocket (both of which I hated and still hate with a burning passion - but this isn't the forum for that 😉).
The full frame Cinema Camera 6K just looks too tempting at that price point to not pick one up. I have a potential doc project coming up that will have some pretty crucial shots (i.e. no second takes or second chances). So I have a couple questions...
First - obviously the camera is new, but based on Blackmagic's past performance, would a Blackmagic camera be reliable enough for such work? From what I can tell things like overheating or random shutdowns don't really seem to plague these babies but want to make sure there's nothing I'm missing.
Secondly - is there any way to dual record? I like the idea of recording to an SSD but it seems as if it has the potential to be unreliable to me. I'd love to dual record - onto the SSD and the internal card as a backup. I'm used to the dual-record workflow using an Atomos recorder with a Sony camera and I love the redundancy. Obviously I could still do the same, but I would be limited to 1080p60 on the Atomos (which is, admittedly, better than not having any footage at all).
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!
