Braid less sew in

I currently have a braid less sew in. I’m at the 3 month mark and might have to push it to 4 months due to unforeseen expenses. I have been maintaining my hair by washing it, oiling my scalp and wrapping it up at night. Has anyone went pass the 3 month mark?? What happened? I do plan to get it reinstalled but I don’t want any damage to my hair
